Magnetotelluric sounding is a kind of branch method of electrical method by changing the frequency of electromagnetic field. It uses the skin effect of electromagnetic induction, that is, the penetration of high-frequency electromagnetic field is shallow, the penetration of low-frequency electromagnetic field is deep, and the frequency of electromagnetic field is changed to achieve the purpose of sounding under the condition that the distance between the field source and the receiving point is unchanged.
