After the instrument is lowered to the expected depth in the well, the four borehole arms extend outward under the action of spring force, with the ends close to the well wall. As the instrument is lifted, the borehole arms will expand and contract due to the change in the well diameter, driving the connecting rod to move, and then the electromechanical conversion device (such as a variable resistor or coil core) connected to the connecting rod will change, converting the well diameter change into an electrical signal change. The electronic circuit processes the electrical signal collected by the probe and finally obtains the well diameter data.
