Deep Groundwater Sampling Discrete Interval Water Sampler for Groundwater Low flow groundwater Sampling The Discrete Interval Groundwater Sampler is ideal for obtaining truly representative samples of water from beneath floating product layers (LNAPL), as well as from the product layers (LNAPL and DNAPL) themselves. It can also be used to profile open water bodies, open boreholes and filter wells, and to collect samples from different water levels or inflow points.
Pumping and rinsing creates a negligible disturbance. Mixing of water from different levels in the well is minimized.
It avoids rinsing and handling of rinse water. Sampling directly from a specific depth makes the collected water very representative of the groundwater outside the well at that depth.
1. The sampler is a stainless steel sampler with LDPE (high pressure polyethylene) tubing mounted on a convenient stainless steel reel. The reel has a pressure attachment for a high pressure hand pump, and a pressurize/drain switch to increase and decrease the pressure applied to the sampler.
2.The sampler is pressurized with a high pressure hand pump before it is lowered into the well, thus avoiding water flowing into the sampler when lowered into the well. Once the required depth is reached, the pressure is released and the hydrostatic pressure draws water from the sampling area directly into the sampler.
3.A floating check ball inside the 1.8L sampler prevents water from entering the tube, thus eliminating the need to clean the tube.
When the sampler is full, it can be re-pressurized and raised to the surface. Samples are transferred using a sample release that controls flow rate and minimizes sample outgassing.
4. Because the sampler can obtain samples without contacting the oil, it is ideal for groundwater sampling below the oil/product layer on the surface of the water, and the sampler is easy to disassemble for decontamination.
