GDJ series winch is a special equipment for geophysical exploration and geological survey. It is mainly used with GDQ-2D integrated digital logging equipment and can also be used with other logging equipment. What happens if the power fails while the probe is deep in the borehole?
Answer: Professional electric logging winches are equipped with a mechanical emergency brake or a self-locking gearbox. If power drops, the brake automatically engages to prevent the probe from free-falling to the bottom of the well, which could destroy the equipment.
What are the risks of a poor level-wind system?
Answer: An automatic level-wind ensures the cable spools evenly across the drum. Without it, the cable can bunch up, overlap, and crush itself under tension. This causes "bird-nesting" or kinking, which permanently ruins expensive armored wireline and causes depth tracking errors.
How often should the cablehead be checked or remade ("reheaded")?
Answer: The cablehead connector bears the absolute brunt of downhole tension and fluid pressure.Before every run: Operators must use a high-range multimeter to verify electrical isolation across the cablehead pin connector. A reading less than 20 signifies fluid ingress or insulation failure. Periodic Reheading: The mechanical termination must be routinely chopped and re-terminated by a trained field technician after exposure to highly corrosive fluid environments, high temperatures, or if any structural wire fatigue is noted near the tool joint.
