Depth range
Shallow detection: Generally speaking, the detection depth of transient electromagnetic instruments in shallow depths can reach within tens of meters. For example, in engineering geological surveys, for projects such as urban underground space development and road construction, the main focus is on the geological conditions within a depth of tens of meters underground, such as underground pipeline distribution and shallow stratum structure. At this time, the effective detection depth of the instrument is usually around 0 to 30 meters.
Medium depth detection: In most mineral resource exploration and hydrogeological surveys, the detection depth is usually between tens of meters and hundreds of meters. For example, when looking for metal mines, the detection depth of the ore body may be around 50 to 500 meters; when detecting groundwater, the aquifer conditions within the depth range of 100 to 300 meters underground can be effectively detected.
Deep detection: For some deep geological structure research and deep mineral resource exploration, the detection depth of transient electromagnetic instruments can reach several thousand meters. For example, in oil exploration, through special instrument configuration and data processing methods, the geological structure and oil layer distribution thousands of meters underground can be detected, and the deepest can be detected to 3,000 meters or even deeper.
