It is injecting a current (I) into the ground. The receiver voltage (V) measurements are taken in line at an 'a' spacing at 'n a' distances from the current source. The resistance (R) at this point can be calculated using the measured current (I) & voltage (V) with ohm's law (V = I·R). The array geometry is used to calculate an apparent resistivity at depth. The apparent resistivity is plotted as pseudo-section, with each successive n layer plotted deeper.

Main Features
One machine with multiple functions: The instrument has three functions: long-wire IP instrument, two-dimensional high-density electrical measurement system host and medium-power short-wire emission.
Small size and light weight: The instrument integrates the transmitter and the receiver into the same box, and can measure the apparent resistivity method and the induced polarization method at the same time.
Many measurement parameters: the instrument can directly measure and display primary potential Vp, natural potential Vsp, power supply current I, apparent resistivity Ro, apparent polarizability Ms, half-life Th, attenuation D, comprehensive IP parameters Zp and deviation Degree R.
The operation mode is more flexible and convenient: it adopts fully digital automatic measurement, which can automatically compensate for natural potential, drift and electrode polarization. The large-screen LCD display with Chinese characters can directly display nine electrode arrangements; the keyboard can directly input the distribution parameters; when a certain measuring point is measured, it can directly display the resistivity curve, apparent polarizability curve, half-life curve, etc.
Data interpretation is more convenient: the instrument can store the measurement data of 4800 measuring points. Each measuring point has 22 data and is equipped with an RS-232 serial interface. The stored data can be directly transferred to the computer through the corresponding software for digital interpretation of various methods.
