The GD-600 seismic source employs a sophisticated mechanism that combines the drop of a heavy hammer with spring energy storage to generate impact vibrations. Here's how it works:

When the winch is activated, it drives the chain into rotation.

As the chain moves, it pulls a pin hook connected to the heavy hammer's lifting block, causing the hammer to rise.

During this ascent, the energy storage spring is stretched, accumulating potential energy.

Once the pull pin reaches the driven sprocket and starts rotating, it disengages from the heavy hammer.

The heavy hammer then falls under its own weight and the tension of the compressed spring, delivering a powerful downward impact.
